Fans that combine AC and DC voltages to offer the best of both technologies
The EC (Electronically Commutated) series of frame fans works with both alternating current and direct current. More specifically, the motor operates with DC voltage but is powered from a normal AC source. This is because DC motors consume little power but to be used in AC applications they need a voltage adapter. This function is achieved in EC frame fans by an integrated PCB board, which houses all the controls onboard the fan.
